Tomato Chutney recipe -for idli and dosa

Tomato chutney is a typical Indian side dish for dosa and idli. It is a spicy and tasty chutney prepared from good ripen tomatoes and some other spices.It is easy and quick to make.You can make this in huge batch and store it in fridge.I have given you step by step pictorial recipe.Now lets look into the recipe

  • Tomatoes(ripen)
  • Urud dal
  • Channa dal
  • Red chillies
  • Oil
  • Shallots
  • Salt
  • Mustard seeds
  • Curry leaves
  • Asafoetida
  • Tamarind
  • Garlic

  1. Heat some oil in a pan
  2. Add 1 tsp of urud dal ,1 tsp of channa dal and cook until golden color
  3. Add 3 red chillies and 4-5 shallots and 2 garlic cloves
  4. Add 4 chopped tomatoes and a small piece of tamarind and cover and cook for 5 min
  5. Once it is cooked let it cool completely add salt as required and take it in a mixer jar and grind finely
  6. Heat an with some oil and add mustard seeds and curry leaves and pinch of asafoetida and add it to the grind chutney
  7. Super tasty tomato chutney is ready serve it with dosa or idli

Add 2 red chilli, 2 cloves of garlic and 5-6 shallots

Add 4 chopped tomato and small piece of tamarind

Let it cool and add salt and take in a mixer jar

Grind it finely

Heat oil in same pan and add mustard seeds,urud dal and curry leaves

Add it to grind chutney
