Chettinad Egg Curry Recipe

Chettinad region is a part of region in South Tamilnadu. Their cooking style will be very authentic and traditional and tastes too good.

For this curry first we need to prepare fresh masala powder which is the basic chettinad masala. It gives good flavor to the curry and tastes delicious.

  • Eggs
  • Coriander seeds,cumin seeds,fennel seeds
  • Pepper
  • Red chilli
  • Curry leaves
  • Coconut
  • Turmeric powder
  • Onion

  1. Dry roast coriander seeds,fennel seeds,cumin seeds,pepper,red chilli in a pan and let them cool completely
  2. Take it in mixer and add one cup of grated coconut and pinch of turmeric and grind into fine paste
  3. Heat some oil in a pan and add curry leaves ,fennel seeds and sliced onion and saute well
  4. Add the masala paste and salt and water as required and cook for 5 min
  5. Add boiled eggs to the curry and cook for another 5 min
  6. Garnish with coriander your chettinad egg curry is ready

Pictorial recipe:

Saute 1 tsp of coriander seeds, 1 tsp of cumin seeds,1 tsp of fennel seeds,1 tsp pepper,2-3 red chilli

Cool them completely

Take it in a mixer jar and add 1 cup of grated coconut

Add pinch of turmeric and grind well into fine paste

In a pan heat oil and add fennel seeds,curry leaves,chopped onion

Add the grind paste

Add water and salt as required

Take three boiled eggs and make a slight cut in many places

Add eggs to the curry

Your egg curry is ready
