Veg Momos Recipe – with step by step picture

Momos is a traditional Tibetian / Nepal cuisine. It is basically dumpling filled with veg/nonveg filling and steamed.It is now popular in many Indian cities. It has turned as a super tasty street food. We have veg , egg , paneer,chicken momos. I have shown step by step picture of veg momos from scratch. Now lets look into the recipe.

Ingredients:

For Dough

  • Maida
  • Salt
  • Water

For Filling

  • Carrot
  • Cabbage
  • Garlic
  • Green chilli
  • Vinegar
  • Soy sauce
  • Salt
  • Chilli powder
  • Garam masala

Instructions:

  1. Take 2 cups of maida in a bowl
  2. Add a pinch of salt and add water and knead the dough
  3. Rest the dough for 20 min
  4. Heat some oil in pan
  5. Add chopped garlic and 2 green chillies
  6. Add chopped carrot and cabbage
  7. Add 1 tsp of chilli powder and 1/2 tsp of garam masala
  8. Add 1/4 tsp of vinegar and 1/4 tsp of soy sauce
  9. Cook for 5 min (till veggies are half cooked)
  10. Take the dough and roll to a thin circle
  11. Take a round cutter and cut circle out of dough
  12. Place the filling in the center and start pleating the edges and get everything to the center
  13. Heat the steamer and place the momos in the steaming plate
  14. Steam it for 10 min and once done your momos is ready

Pictorial Recipe:

Add two cups of maida and a pinch of salt

Add water and knead the dough well. Rest it for 20 min

Heat oil in a pan and chopped garlic and 2 green chilli

Add chopped carrot and cabbage

Add 1 tsp of chilli powder , 1/2 tsp of garam masala

Add 1/4 tsp of soy sauce and 1/4 tsp of vinegar and half the veggies

Take the dough and roll into thin circle

Using circle shaped cutter cut equal rounds in the dough

Place the filling in the center

Apply water along the edges and start pleating from edge and bring it toward center.

Heat the steamer and place the momos in the plate and steam it for 10 min

Your veg momos is ready. Serve it hot with momos chutney
